what to do about "out of the blue" bad days
Watch this

Sometimes for no apparent reason I can get one - or several- bad days where everything becomes more of an effort. No change in weather, or routine or meds, and no infection or stress. Go from being energetic, -15-20 mins on treadmill and doing exercises , to sudden tiredness and finding it difficult to even get dressed . Im am on LTOT for several months. Any advice.?

" P.S. My oxygen level are fine, low oxygen isn't my problem (yet anyway). I'm finding that mucus in my airways that I'm not even aware of. When I took the mucinex I started sneezing and things started moving a bit, it wasn't muct but I felt a whole lot better. "

" I am not a doctor; but so many things can cause
a bad day or two. Lack of restful sleep; high
humidity; coming in contact with chemicals or
strong odors; anxiety; depression; too cold or
too hot temperatures; nasal congestion--------
the list goes on and on. I suggest that next
time you feel this way; you think back to the
previous day and see if you can uncover a common denominator. If not; check with your doctor. Best wishes. "

" Dear Friend;

I have a certain empathy with you as I experience exactly the same thing. Now only on the week before last at my last complete check-up I made a point of mentioning it and what they advised was in keeping with the advice that sassyme gave.

Now I know you reiterate that your oxygen levels are okay – but you could have a momentary dip and followed by a quick recovery period. What I have started to do is during the day to take a quick cat nap and I have found that this appears to have resolved the problem.

Possibly you should keep an exact record or diary of your experiences and this would be of great assistance to your medical team. I hadn’t unfortunately – but since I am keeping a very precise record and if I become concerned I can always phone with the record in hand.

Just a thought but it may be worth the effort.

" They have told us in pulmonary rehab that people with our diagnosis do have bouts of depression or anxiety and that most of us should be on some type of med, because if you get anxious or upset it makes breathing harder and then that leads to low oxygen, etc, etc. We do the pursed lip breathing-breathe in thru your nose and slowly breathe out of your mouth and they also have relaxing music tapes we can bring home to listen to. Let me know if any of this helps.

" Thank you all for your gems of wisdom....have tried some and they did help. It does just seem to be part of the disease. I was tickled pink with the idea that we "use up tomorrows energy" Alas , how true!!Its good to be able to hear what others experience, and to have the odd smile on the way! "

" Wow! You just acurately described how I have been feeling the past couple of days. I usually enjoy walking around the block with my dog, and yesterday and today, I just couldn't do it. I am anxious but I don't think I am depressed.

I was working pretty hard shortly before this. That is what I laid it to. "
