I will be doing something like sitting at the computer when all of a sudden I feel like I have lost air or I'm not getting enough. I check the hose on my oxygen machine for kinks and it is fine. When this happens I also get very warm and feel sweaty.It does go away after a while. Does anyone know why this happens or what causes it?
I would really like to hear from you on this. I don't have a doctor at this time. My former doctor proved to be un satisfactory in knowledge
of this disease. Thank you all and God bless you.
Hugs,
Eillen

" I am not a doctor nor do I know all there is to know about this disease.

Depends on what you are reading on the internet.... sounds like it may be a touch of anxiety.

It sure could mean a few things, I hope this helps, Good luck. "

" I would have to agree with bridget3, anxiety does all kinds of things to us. I am not a doctor either and it is always good to mention these things to your doctor when you go in. You really need to find a doctor so you don't find yourself in a position that you won't like, and have to take what you get.
Do you have anything for anxiety, if you do I would take it and see if it does help. "

" It does sound like it could be anxiety, I get this....sometimes, I just get 'overwhelmed' by all the info that I am reading.
I just can't sit here and ONLY read this and say, ok, and take it and do it, and live it. It's too much, just too much sometimes.
So, it could be that.
It could also be, humidity, the heat, perhaps just air flow around you in general, where are you sitting? Do you have like a fan near you?- - -just to move the air around a bit?
I would not be overly concerned if it is very short lasting, like 10-20 secs or so...then, it's not so bad. Some of mine [which is anxiety] can last for over an hour or better sometimes,,,I am on pills for it...I need them...for certain.
You need to check out some of the GOOD WEBSITES, try the Am Lung Assoc, or some site like this; if you want more, email Sassyme and ask her, I'm certain she has a list and a half that could help you.
Your biggest issue is to get a doctor for yourself. I know that I will soon be going onto Medicade and am truly afraid of this, as to which doctor I will be able to see...I cannot afford 185 for the doc I see now. But, not all doc's are accepting Medicade here in Illinois now...so it's iffy as to what will happen.
#1 start looking for a new lung doc, now,,#2, calm yourself down, make notes of this and how long it lasts, etc.,,how often, what you are doing, etc.
Stay calm, and KNOW that it is ok, you are getting air...it is ok... "

" Sometimes when I am focused on my computer work, I fail to take deep enough breaths. I am OK for a little while with little shallow breaths and then I notice what is happening. I strive for some deep breaths and move around a bit.
The fact that you do get warm & sweaty would normally concern me but you do not have A/C and it may be hormonal/menopausal also. "

" Hi Nelly;

You are experiencing what I did for quite a very long time – but now I work at my computer sitting of my settee or sofa or whatever you guys call it. But I have special pillows always lying to my right and at the first sign of fatigue – I lie down with my feet raised by having them rest on the arm at the other side of the settee. Prior to finding out the answer I would become panicky and that only exacerbated the whole situation.

The laugh is that my son claims I spend more time in the vertical position dozing than any person on earth and the least time in the perpendicular position – of course he is jesting but I didn’t tell him that I sometimes feign the need to lie down so that I shall not be disturbed during a football game on TV or a war film which I just love. So don’t stress yourself out as I used to do when these occurrences happen. There is a guy in our local support group who was telling me only three weeks ago of this happening to him – so I phoned him this morning and he told me that it was the 100% full proof answer to his problem. Just for devilment I told him how to get extra yardage when his wife was trying to get him to do something that he would prefer to give a miss – he laughed out loud heartedly and thought it was a brilliant idea.

So as and from today he is going to put plan B into operation – since plan A proved so successful. It is typical of us Irish who can find humour in any situation and we even enjoy laughing at ourselves.

So let me know how this works for you:

Your Irish Friend;

Donal: "
