" I think its a personal choice. I wil start weaning at 12mos but if she is like my last child it will take a while. My last child was weaned by 20 mos. "

" I agree, I think it is a personal choice. However, myself, I would want my baby weaned by about 2 years. If everything was going well though up until that point, I'm not sure I could just say "no". I'm kind of an avid "child led weaning" advocate! My second child weaned himself at 16 months and I have to say, I was ready by then too, but once he weaned, I was so sad to see it go. I would've gone longer. I really hope and pray that I will get to nurse this one, my third. (I'm 34 weeks pregnant right now) I take prozac now for panic disorder and I've recently been told by my childrens pediatrician that it's not recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics to nurse while taking prozac. I will be doing a lot of research over the next 5 weeks. I don't want to miss out on this experience. If you're reading this, I would appreciate your prayers for this matter as well. Thanks. By the way, how old is your little one? are you thinking of weaning? "

" i weaned both of my kids at 2 1/2. that seems like longer than other people but it really helped since they were older. i loved breastfeeding and understood it is a personal decision. your child won't be hurt by weaning now or later. good luck! "
