I had chemo for the third time 7 days ago and I am still getting diarrhea and have the worst taste in my mouth. My mouth is dry, too. It seems that every time I get chemo, the symptoms get worse and last longer. Is this typical?

" Chemo affects us all diferently. I had very little side effects except for being tired and losing all my body hair. I do remember haveing the taste in my mouth but it went away. Keep lip balm on hand and drink lots and lots of water....The symptoms we suffer from do seem to increase and get worse with time. But do know that it will get better when the chemo is done...I had my treatments every 3 weeks for 15 treatments. Then I went onto radiation for daily treatments for 30 days. Are you able to get to treatments without any problems. Because The American Cancer Society offers a progem called Road to Recovery. It is volunteers that drive you to and from treatment. It was a life saver for me....You can contact the 24/7 with any questions you may have....God Bless You and let me know if you ever need to talk. Much Love to You .....CINDY "

" I'm not positive, but I think the chemo builds up in your system. You aren't "rid" of all of the chemo you got last time before you get another dosage, so that's why things seem to be getting a bit worse. Do things taste like metal? That's a common complaint that I heard when I was going for radiation. That's what my husband would tell me, too. But not to worry, as it won't last forever ~ once your chemo is done, so is the bad taste, etc. God bless and my prayers are with you! Hugs, Lee "

" it does tend to have a cumulative effect. I had chemo for 18 months and kept feeling the effects long after I was finished. "
