Just a little light humor for a rainy day....
When my daughter was about 8 we were visiting with one of my step-brothers. He was doing his best to entertain this very distractable girl and keep her out of trouble while my sister was trying to fix her (my daughters)hair. When I walked in he had just started to tell her a joke: Why did the racoon cross the road? My daughter thought about this for a few minutes with a very serious look on her face, then all of a sudden she got a big smile on her face and said "he wanted KFC?" We all started laughing at this point except my step-brother who was in shock for a moment until it dawned on him what she actually said. You see the punchline of the joke was (and if you live in any part of the country that is somewhat rural you will understand) "to prove it could be done" But my daughter remembering that the chicken crossed to get to the other side - and accross the street from us was a KFC, she simply put 2 and 2 together! too funny. I remember that joke. Reminds me of one of my favorite Far Side Cartoons. Across several frames a possum steps onto the road pulls out a ketchup bottle pours it out on the road, throwes away the bottle & lays down beside the spilled sauce. The caption ... "Possum at work"
