Do separations ever lead to a better marriage?

Have any of you have been separated and then reunited with your spouse? I had to have my husband arrested last Monday. We will be in court in a few weeks. He is now living with his aunt. I am hoping that the judge will mandate anger management counseling for him and some type of marriage mediation/counseling. I am hoping that our marriage will work out, but I am worried that he will become used to living like a single guy again.

" All I can tell you is we got back together after a split back in 1996. Well I am on DS so guess what happened, if you want to be a friend let me know and you can read my journal. The hard cover comes out next year. So I would say getting back together is not a great idea especially if you had to call the cops on him. That can create trust issues and I am sure there is a heck of a lot more going on. "

" I just read your story Ash. Being a father myself it broke my heart.

I won't say there is no hope. But both people have to be really willing to get down to the nitty gritty and work issues out.

Most frequently, separation is one sided. One person who gives 110%, the other retreating as fast.

I've said this a few times on other posts because it sticks in my head. My lawyer says that he has seen more divorced people get back together after a divorce, than separated people working things out.

In my opinion from what I read, you should focus on taking care of you and your little girl. Be cautious. Don't move too fast. Don't be too anxious that he fixes himself.

If both of you have adequate patience, and give it plenty of time. Well...the sky is the limit really. "

" Sorry to say that most separations are trial divorces. Time apart does not help work out the issues that need to be dealt with. Sorry. Just my opinion and personal experience. "

" I have to agree with trevor, I think once you leave its easier to just stay gone and if you do get back together are less likely to work on the issues. But I only have my experience to base this on, so there is hope. "
