I'm sorry. Honestly, sometimes I feel like I get physically knocked down--repeatedly. I feel like that today. I'm sure the wedding dress made you feel knocked down again. It's awful, and I truly empathize. Hope you feel better soon.

I'm sorry, I feel that way when i come across old pics and stuff.
However this reminds me, my mother keeps reminding me that my ex's wedding gown is hanging at her place. What in the world am I supposed to do with that thing?

Mine is preserved, boxed with a silk handkerchief (it was my someting old) that was given to my grandmother by her first fiance who died before they could marry. I hesitate to open the box, as I don't want to disturb the hankie, but I would really like to do the zombie bride thing for Halloween one year!

I remember asking my grandmother what she did with her wedding dress. Her marriage did survive (until he died suddenly when she was in her 40s and she had to suddenly support her 3 children, but that's another story). I thought she would say something sentimental and how she treasured it forever. She said that she cut it off at kneelength and dyed it navy blue. That always made me laugh.
I know places do sell used wedding dresses, but I personally wouldn't want to have to deal with it. Do you have a friend or relative who could take it somewhere?

I tried mine on one more time, cut it and threw it in the garbage about 6 weeks ago. It took me a year, since I got my belongings back, but I did it.

no friends....I might bring it up to my parents on the phone tonight, but hesitate because they're not always the most supportive...I might also just dump the damn thing on my husband's bed in the basement and let him deal with it. Mother fuc*er that he is...

decided to put it on his bed with a note that says he can throw them away...just like he did our marriage.
Petty? Probably. Bitchy? You're god damn right. Methinks I've earned this raging bitch moment.

I wore my mother's wedding dress that was hand made for her. My parents were married 54 years until my father died. So sad that it represents such love and devotion on the one hand and utter failure on the other. It breaks my heart to see it but I can't get rid of it either. It's in a "body bag" like my marriage....being packed and stored.

Threw it in the garbage. In all honesty I did it after our basement flooded.
