It Looks like there might be a breakthrough in the proposals and hopefully this "one" might be doable.Not what I hoped for,but I value my sanity as it's already bankrupt and the longing for my life to begin. I'm usually a very sensible person and good with my money. I want to do something meaningful in the start of my new life. On one of the threads today,it was mentioned that we should have some kind of ritual or something to that effect to celebrate our new lives. I've put away(for my children/grandchildren)the little bit of jewelry stbx gave me away. I'm feeling a bit naked without the one ring(not wedding...those are gone)...so I'm thinking of buying myself a new ring. I'm keeping within my budget.I've never been this generous with myself....ever. I want to get this in my honor to be true to myself ALWAYS. I'm proud of myself for allowing myself to spend money on myself(I'm always cheap when it comes to me,but generous to others). The thing is,I hate going to stores...I'm notttt a shopper and wouldn't order it thru mail as I would want to try it on. I just need permission as I'm sitting on the fence with this idea.Any one else do something like this? If not...you should give it a try.I won't get it til after the divorce as it will be symbolic and something to look forward to. I do want to start looking tho :)

I did the exact same thing when I sold my home, Deb. I bought a really nice antique Amethyst and Gold ring just for me.. I never ever do anything just for me, but I have started doing them now.. It is my birthstone and I wear it every day,.. Be kind to yourself.. You sure as heck deserve it :-) Kimmee

Deb- great idea! I am going to do the same thing for me. Already sold my wedding rings. Kept the one my STBX gave to me when our daughter passed away and will always wear that. Give YOURSELF permission to be true to you! Start looking. You SOOOO deserve it!

Hi I'm new in all this, but I think it's a great start. When my parents got divorced my mom burned the calendar, a few photos and some gifts my dad had given her. Here I am 30 years later and thinking of doing the same thing. Once all is done and said, I will buy something just for me.
So I say good for you.

THIS is what I love about DS and you Deb. I wanted a ring too. I wanted to put it in the finger ajasent(sp?) to the ring finge ron the other hand. I went online and looked and looked at rings. I too am frugel when it comes to splurging on myself. I'd feel better if I went to a jewelry store and opened an account. I've been working so hard on cleaning up my credit..every little penny pretty much goes to the stuff I NEED to do. On my paydays I'll go to amazon.com and buy myself a book or designer perfume..maybe spending 40 bucks on myself. Maybe if I put in a few hours overtime for the next few months I can do it.....you SHOULD do it. ....you DESERVE it...Babe, go for it
