I used to have some self esteem but the stbx got rid of that a long time ago. I have been looking for it since he left.

Amen to that! How he has so much control on how I feel about myself is beyond me.. Tongiht it was I'm not working hard enough.. Damn..can't catch a break

It does come from the inside out and NO ONE CAN GIVE THAT TO YOU. You do have to be okay with who you are.

I guess I got mine from my mom. She is one confident lady. She brought me and my siblings up with lots of it. My worth has NEVER been based on what anyone else thought about me.

Even when ex said he wanted a divorce, I always thought he was the crazy one and that it was totally his choice and fault and not something wrong with me.

Until you find the "you that you can love no matter what" then I think self esteem will always be based on the outside which is empty at best. I don't know if that's found through counseling, self help books, etc. I base who I am by who God says I am. I look to His promises and through His eyes at myself and that keeps me going.

Maybe some will think that's wishy washy but get what I don't have a problem with my self esteem and never have.

I hope you can find yours because you are worth it.

I agree with Pasta. We really have to love ourselves first. I let her take whatever self esteem I had left. I am finally starting to look in the mirror and say that I do look good and feel good about me.

Bravo Pasta!!! Believe in yourself...stand up for yourself. It does come from within.You can change everything on the outside but it's the taking care of your soul.Your body is just a vehicle for your soul.The soul is damaged to the core and needs to be rebuilt. We are all wonderful human beings,just a bit beaten down.Take back your power...stand up and own it!!! hold your head high and learn to believe in yourself...no matter what anyone else thinks or says.Accept alllll your flaws and change the things you can(not only physical).Remember that all creation is not complete without you :) I've been beaten down my whole life.I loved and gone thru great losses.I'm no exception.If I kept believing what my stbx said that I was worth nothing...I would be dead right now. After a long time of thinking of what he and so many others have said.I stood up and walked away from that cuz I believe God...not him or anyone.If anyone doesn't like me becuz of the way I look or talk....then I accept that and I walk away. Now that's my self esteem talking!!! I'm ok with me and I respect others just the way you are(((hugs))) to all
