In the Buddhist tradition, Monks are not allowed to touch woman so as not to get distracted from their path.
Two Monks were walking along, in silence, when they came to a distessed woman in the road. She had on a long dress and there was a mud puddle blocking the path. Without thinking, one of the Monk's picked her up and carried her across. She thanked him and the two Monks continued to walk on in silence. Three hours later they reached their destination and the second Monk, unable to contain himself any longer said "You should not have touched that woman!!". The other Monk said "Are you still carrying her? I let her down hours ago." How much of your past are you still carrying? Are you willing to put it down so you can enjoy the life you have now? I'll tell you that it has been very hard to learn to let go but I finally have and what a difference it has made in my life. I actually feel lighter and feel like I can breath. I just concentrate on each day as it comes to me and accomplish what I can the best that I can. At night I tell myself that I will be hopeful and happy for tomorrow. Thanks for the inspiration!!
