Hi Everyone,
I just got back from doing my taxes and was told that I could claim property taxes, being that I am still living inthe home and have little income and am separated and he is out. He is now pissed because being that I have remained in the hom eand it was HIS idea to continue paying the mort, bills, etc. in lieu of spousal and child support. Now he is asking when we will put the house for sale, I guess he is thinking for next year taxes can he claim spousal and child support does anybody know? Because my spousal is for 2 years and I will remain in here until that ends if I have too.. Posted on 03/30/08, 04:03 pm |

You are in cda.. yes maybe on the ontario tax credit form.....
Child support is non taxable to you ( as recipient ) and non dedudtible to him.. but SPOUSAL support is deductible to him and taxable to you..... you also need to discuss iwth your lawyer,, you may be entitled to claim on line 256 of your tax return a portion of your legal fees PAID during the last year as a deduction because you were negotiating support..... ( cdn tax expert here....) Any other questions, message me personally
