Since I have separated with my husband, I have so badly wanted to get a tattoo that represents forever being my own person,...never letting someone control me again.
Problem is, I have NO IDEA what to get. LOL...seems I've had a bit of a "writer's block" so to speak. I have no tattoos now, I just really feel like I want to do something to express my independence and new found clarity. I'm thinking I want it to be a phrase or a word, not a picture of something. Anyone have any suggestions? ;) Posted on 02/27/08, 06:02 pm |

I kinda wanted to do the samething but don't really want to have something so perminent. A few months after we separated I got my eyebrow pierced. It changed so much for me. Now I'm thinking of getting stars on my toe ajacent to the wedding ring finger. One star for each year of marriage and I don't think I would feel so badly about getting a tat.

I have seen a few tatoos of Chinese symbols on the lower back and back of the neck. They are really simple but (I think) look great and may prove to be very meaningful to the wearer! Here is a link http://www.chinatownconnection.com...

Don't get a tattoo in a foreign language, unless you know EXACTLY what it says.
I'd recommend getting a word inked that represents your heritage and not borrow from others cultures. Make it your own. Research it, design it. Figure out where you want it. If you're Irish, maybe the "traditional" blessing in small print aroud your ankle?

I'm German....so that would leave me with beer or wienerschnitzel. haha!!
I want it to represent freedom, strength, energy, clarity...but I don't necessarily just want to put one of those words on my body, ya know?

I think it should solely be your decision because YOU and only YOU will have to live with it the rest of your life. I have a tattoo and I want more!!
