Why does it feel like my prayers are unanswered? I pray. I pray more. I am hurting more. I feel myself going into the abyss more.

maybe you, yourself, will have to take a more active role? I dunno, I don't even know what prayer is. Maybe try meditation?

Perhaps it is faith you need more of. God never closes a door without opening up another. It is the timing of events that cause us to worry and doubt.
If you had a close friend and you asked them to lend you $20 dollars would you not be relieved immediately when they said yes? Would you wait a minute or 2 and then ask them again to please give you $20? They friend you think you were crazy, they would say I said I'll give it to you. Well most people pray to God in the same way. If I pray to God for something I ask once and then begin thanking him for giving me what I asked for.
