Catch a movie lately?

I seem to be renting more movies lately...perhaps as a distraction tactic when the kids are with their mother for two weeks.

I got to thinking that sharing our thoughts about current or older movies that you enjoyed might be an interesting "other topic" thread.

Let's see if this works. Describe, or at least list, away.

" I saw "Forgetting Sarah Marshall"- a much needed laugh which ahs also landed me with a HUGE crush on Russell Brand!! Harold and Kumar 2- goofy and funny. And Iron Man- which really surprised me! It's really fun and funny!! "

" Just in the middle of watching "The Golden Compass". Enjoying it. Even thought it was billed as family entertainment, I don't think it's quite appropriate for my kids (7 and 8). Perhaps when they get older. For now, I'm glad I decided to watch it alone. "

" This Memorial Day weekend I was thinking to go see the new Indiana Jones Movie. The News said last night that theaters are raising prices this weekend...whats up with that?...gas and movies...food going up...and nobody gets any raises anymore. Good grief.

Okay, I'll shut up now. "

" I'm going to see Indiana Jones on Tuesday, I have a friend who went to see it yesterday and said it was awesome, I am so looking forward to it!

Ironman was my last cinema trip and it was fantastic, some real laugh out loud moments....there's going to be a sequel apparently, should be good. "

" I watched a few lately:
"Atonement': beautiful cinematography but the story was overwrought, and Kiera Knightly's acting was atrocious; all she did was 'be skinny' and make dramatic longing faces.

"Joyeux Noel"; about the Christmas-day cease-fire during WWI. Liked it a lot; it was subtle. I find WWI films so interesting. There was just such a sense of abject hopelessness and futility with that war, and it comes out in the film. Another one I like along the same lines is 'A Very Long Engagement' by the same director who did 'Amelie' one of my top 5 favorite films of all time.

Last night I watched 'Open Range'. I liked it okay. The cinematography was beautiful; the acting a bit stilted (Kevin Costner; what do you expect). Annette Bening was good. "
