Catch a movie lately?

I seem to be renting more movies lately...perhaps as a distraction tactic when the kids are with their mother for two weeks.

I got to thinking that sharing our thoughts about current or older movies that you enjoyed might be an interesting "other topic" thread.

Let's see if this works. Describe, or at least list, away.

" Okay, I'll go first. On the advice of a work colleague I rented the following movie:

"Lars and the Real Girl"

Lars (Ryan Gosling) is an awkwardly shy young man in a small nothern town who finally brings home the girl of his dreams to his brother and sister-in-law's home...

No spoiler talk from me. Just an entertaining movie. "

" Recently enjoyed the movie:

"Before the Devil Knows You're Dear"

Starring Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Ethan Hawke, Marisa Tomei and Albert Finney.

Hoffman plays an overextended broker who lures his younger brother (Ethan) into a larcenous scheme. "

" I watched 2 yesterday,forst one was 88 minutes,with Al Pacino
-Dr. Jack is a shrewed womanizing Forensic Psychologist and professor working with the FBI in Seattle. A tortured past makes him great at what he does. Jack's past is returning to pull him on another roller-coaster as a killer that he helped to put on death row approaches the last minutes of his life.

The second was Reign over me,with Adam Sandler
-Alan Johnson has everything he needs to get through life: a good job, a beautiful and loving wife, and their wonderful children. Yet he feels isolated because he finds having a hard-working job and managing a family too much to handle and has no one to talk to about it. Charlie Fineman, on the other hand, doesn't have a job or a family. He used to have both until a terrible loss, and the grief caused him to quit his job and isolate himself from everyone around him. As it turns out, Alan and Charlie were roommates in college, and a chance encounter one night rekindles the friendship they shared. But when Charlie's problems become too much to deal with, Alan is determined to help Charlie come out of his emotional abyss.

Both were very good movies! "

" I am getting my money out of blockbuster by mail.

Here are a few that I have seen in the last month that are worth watching.

Gone Baby Gone: great ending

The Dead Girl: a dead girl is found and seven people are connected to her in different ways.

Count of Monte Cristo: its a few years old. I enjoyed the book. The movie was well done.

The Lookout: a kid with TBI gets involved with the wrong crowd. "
