Happy Friday one and all !! Hope everyone had a decent week.
Had the funeral for our "medic" today and what an awesome send off it was. About 150 people, so many firetrucks and lifesquads the procession was over a mile long. One of the medical helicopters flew in, hovered about the grave site, dipped it's nose and left. Bagpipers played Amazing grace, 21 gun salute (he was a Marine), the whole thing. I did good until the "firefighters last call" which is when dispatch set off his alert tones over all the radios and they transmitted a tape of Mike saying he was "back in Quarters" and the dispatcher said "May Mike forever rest in peace" That did it, bit through the lip trying not to cry, Thank God for sunglasses because he would have kicked my ass if I balled !!
Had the unofficial wake last night for him so my head was a little fuzzy this morning. LOL Had to run to the other station and get my tie, locked my keys in the car, cops had to open it, make it to the funeral home where I was notified I was a pall bearer, hmmmmm.....this should be interesting. Just looked up in the sky and told Mikey to quit fucking with me !!!LOL
All in all, it has been an interesting week full of ups and downs. I gained some perspective on life by the loss of one and we have all been there. It's all good because we will make it....together !!
