Bad 1 story fall on head and shoulder, then a subsequent injury put me in severe pain for a long time. When my pain was relieved after 12 years, i came to realize that mild TBI symptoms matched mine in every way. I had not known or noticed for the pain took precedence over everything. I am now doing very well and recovering quickly as these NCR procedures have reshaped my very skull and my mind is flying free, I've had amazing cognitive improvement.
Symptom Wise: I did have severe head and neck pain until the miraculous NCR procedure. Neuropathy and pain in right arm and hand. These are now mostly corrected.
I Still have memory issues, sleep issues and concentration issues and perhaps some psychological becuase i was in severe pain for 12 years. I can get frustrated easier than i used to, But I'm on a rocket fast recovery trend.

I have a story for you, it's about my son. He was in a car accident at the age of 19.He was flown to a hospital 2 hours away.He was in ICU for 4 wks and in a coma for 3wks. He has made great recovery, but still working on it.If you need some one to talk with, just say the word okay.

Slipped and fell on a patch of ice and suffered a concussion 7 months ago. I have not been the same since. Went from being a completely healthy, active person to needing help filling out a form, adding numbers and relying on an arm to walk with and transportation everywhere, etc, etc...
This group is the best place I've ever joined :-)

I fell off a roof in August of 2007. I was in a coma for 12 days, had my spleen taken out, and I'm deaf in one ear. Since I was hurt at work, I have to do what workers comp says. I've been told that it might be years before I'm my old self again. I'm not taking that sitting down. I was brought back to life 4 times and I am too stuborn to sit and just say, "It's ok, I have a TBI". I spend every second that I'm awake exercising my brain. Mark my words, I will be back to normal no matter what anyone says and go ahead, say that I'm in denial. I just won't accept how I am now.

You go Vernon!!!!!!!! My husband fell off 8 ft. roof Nov. 2007. He doesn't think anything is wrong with him. Keep working that brain; it can only help. Every TBI is different and at different degrees of severity. I keep hoping for more progress in hubby. It's so slow though.

I fell from a roof on cement. The house was a fund raiser for a church. Not any help from the church. Some brain areas have returned, some not. I do enjoy life and understanding TBI have helped.

My neurologist labeled it as "Executive Functioning Deficit". Has anyone else heard of that term? Mine is a frontal lobe injury, caused by head trauma during a car accident. I was in ICU for a week, and IMC for another two. (I had a broken sternum in two places too.)
It is slowly progressing, although lately it feels like it is progressing quickly.
I have become somewhat of a hermit. Forgetting a word, or forgetting what I am saying mid-sentence is very embarrassing for me.
Sleep issues is an understatement. I have such a difficult time. I guess I just sleep when I can.
My neuro wants me to go to Occupational Therapy to learn how to use my brain in different ways. I don't disagree with this. It's just I have so many illnesses that the last thing I want is another weekly appointment on my plate. Uggh!

Hi Pid, 'Executive Function' is one of my biggest remaining issues... i have a hell of a time trying to make and follow a plan. I had some treatments that have helped everything including that, as well as time.
Before march i had trouble planning my next hour, now I can do alright for more things though I'd sure like to be able to plan bigger things like I used to. Patience helps since every week is a little tiny bit better.
