" My daughter suffered a frontal lobe injury, the memory has gotten alot better (with less reminders I should say) but what has really helped was color coding different categories like especially with school, I know that doesnt apply to you but they were saying you could do it with the different things like the different parts of the day and where stuff is stored, etc. Some of the suggestions they have given is for them to have a checklist to go through every am or whatever time during the day. They also said to try to keep everything routine (had to laugh at that one though, no way in my house could we keep any semblance of a routine....I am definitely not organized enough!) Problem solving is definitely tougher and with the frontal it affected her personality and I see a hint of the inappropriate things at different times but I have known stories of how bad it could get, so I am thankful! I read a book called Being with Rachel, by Karen Brennan and I think it helped me to know alot of the same thoughts/reactions/patterns and someone trying to get through it with patience and the bad days, etc. I think if you get on Amazon they let you read the first chapter or something like that to get a hint of what the book will be like. It helped me or I should say it was nice knowing someone else's story and how they felt, but then again we do get that here, dont we? I give you kudos for doing so much for your mother-in-law too becasue I am sure it is not easy!!! "
