It has been too soon to tell with me. Mine happened, I was told, in july of 2007. I would be concerened with the anger issues, as I have already found out they have a bad effect. You should have returning to work remain as a goal, but you should also look at what you can help fix within yourself, and keep that as a goal as well. You can read my journal to see that I have taken this VERY hard.

I don't know where you live, but when you feel you are ready, see if there is a state Vocational/Rehabiliative Services. I'm in SC and we have one here. They can help you get back into the work force wether its in your original field or a new one. If training is needed, they often cover those expenses. Its a wonderful agency. I'm not ready yet, but they will be the first call I make when the time comes.

I went back to work immediately after my TBI big mistake. Have been working ever since and have paid the price as well. I have submitted my two week notice yesterday and will be on disability. I can not function anymore as a teacher. I no longer hold on to the dream of returning to the work force in any feild because I did not give myself any recovery time.

My TBI was in 2002 and I (obviously) stopped working then. I haven't gone back to work since, although I've wanted to. I miss having my own money, having something to do, and having the camaraderie with co-workers. I am a college student, so I don't sit around and do nothing. ;-) I tried to go through Vocational Rehabilitation and get a part-time job last year, but Voc Rehab said with my disability (TBI and epilepsy) finding a job to accommodate would be difficult. So I just settle for being a student for now. This semester I have to a work-study to get my Social Work clinical hours to graduate. That's the closest to working I've been since my TBI. While I want to be like everyone else in society and contribute, I've long since realized I have limitations and have to work around those limitations. I do the best I can, and that's all anyone can ask.

OMG!we are so much alike!!! It will be 2 years for me also on the 24th. Also, my neurologist told me that I'm in the severe group too. Before the accident I worked at a Land Services company. I graduated from college in 2000, but I think I did lose some intelligence to go back to work. I don't think I can.

I have just recently came up on my 2 yr anniv of my TBI. I have actually came back to work a lil too early since I was always too tired and felt real weak doing the work and I eventually got fired, which was fine cuz I really didnt like the job I was workin for waste management. I then began school for physical therapy, taking 1 class the 1st semester. I also started working at the jobs I had before I had the TBI, but I am now doing a lesser role at these jobs. So now after two yrs I am now taking two classes in school and workin 3 part time jobs. But in these jobs I only work about 20-30 hrs weekly. So I'm trying to get back in there but I am just doing it slowly now hopefully this will work out.

Thank you all for you input and every one of you have helped me try to understand.sorry i should also let you all know, about 2 months back, i have to date worked one 34 hour week in an air-con ducting fuctory.I found it very hard to keep up and understand simple drawings .(I used to be a builder for mine site)re-train everything?i dont know.
that was way way too much for me,I still have constant head aches and anger probs ,insomnia ,the list goes on .was a very silly listake and i went back to being dizzy, unballanced and all that fun stuff.I was doing 8 to 9 hour days and was not eating taking meds correctly ,pretty much coming home sleeping on the lounge for 8 or so hours ,going to be if possible and it took me about a month to have all that settle down again.I hate that about a TBI,seems the whole way its 1 2 3 sometimes 4 , 5 steps back after trying to hard for that 1 step closer to a normal life ,one step closer to getting better.i am with CRS Australia ,for my vocational rehabilitation, but i still try to do things The old me way.
Thanks again

My husband just started working a temporary job. He is extremely happy to get hired but I can tell it is very difficult for him to put in 8 hours a day. The job is supposed to last for 2 months. I enjoy seeing him feel better about himself and I hope and pray he will be able to handle it for the duration of the project.
