I have times when I feel like my brain is spinning out of control.I can be standing still and on flat ground and it seem`s like everything outside of me is spinning around in fast circles around and around. Is this something that will be with me the rest of my life.It is not all the time but it can happen while I am driving and that is not safe.Any ideas?

I did have that it lasted for me for about a year ...
I felt like i would passout if i sat up from laying too fast . if i closed my eyes and put (like a fake yawn) pressure on my skull i would get spin's and vertigo ,Also after doing that if i opened my eyes there was like what i call pins n needles flying at me all different colours. like i say It happend evryday for Id guess 6 mnths then settled down pretty much as my ballance did.Dunno if there conected thats how i remember it .! Now im glad to say I can remember tha last time i got dizzy at all . I hope for your sake and future its settles down for you as mine has.. I dont know if i can suggest anything to help it was just a time thing for me i think. Try to lower your stress levels, And refrain from sudden movements i think is about the best i can think of right now . bets of luck , daz

Thank you guys for your input on this very strange but serious question. It has been a long time since my TBI but for some reason this spinnnnnnng seems to be hanging on and it can be very scary. My TBI was Jan.27,1992 and I just don`t understand why this is still happening.I have had some MRIs and you can see the scar tissue in the left frontal part of my brain and to me it is farly big in size. But none of my Doctors seem to think it is of any importance.

Hi Monte, glad to meet you!! I am "Qutee" in Texas!!! Sometimes this site can be such a wake up call. You can go to my profile and journal for more info but I wanted to thank you for bringing up the vertigo problem!! I have suffered for years with the feeling that the room was turning upside down on me!! I can be laying flat in bed and it hits , then I grab the edge of the bed and kinda push myself into the mattress! I have it when sitting or standing too but it blows me away when it happens and I am laying down!!! For several weeks now I have noticed that when I first wake up and get off the bed, I walk towards the left, when I need to go to the end of the bed and to the right. It is a dizzy kind of feeling and I know I am walking the wrong way but I can't seem to stop it! I am not sure I have mentioned this to my doctor so I am really glad you brought this up!!! Thanks!!!
And to all of us. God Bless!!!

Hey Madhack,I have been to so many Doctors and none of them have found anything except fo the scar tissue in the left frontal lobe of my brain but they have assured me that they are still trying to find out what it is that is causing the spinning.
gutee,it is good to know that I am not the only one that has this problem.Sorry that you are having the same thing happening to you.Maybe it will go away for you but I think that it has been too many years for mine to just one day go away. maryellen,I hope that your husband has not had this for long and that they stop real soon.It is not some thing that is s fun thing to have.It makes you more and more unsure of what you can or should be doing, like driving or even riding a bike.

daz,I have problems hearing out of my left ear and have all kinds of sinus problems,my nose was broken in the accident and I also have TMJ and ringing in my ears.I do also experance the sound like something is broken in my ears.It sounds like someone is bending or crunching a piece of a tin can in both ears.Maybe that is where the spinning is coming from,I just don`t know and as many doctors that have looked in my ears and all they can tell me is I have a lot of wax(don`t know why but I use a cleaning agent at least twice a week and get gobs of stuff out)maybe it is my brain leaking out....lol....Thanks for trying to help,it just seems like nothing is working right any more.

I am not a doctor i can only speak from my own experiance but like i say , my ballance and the head spins seemed to come good shorty after i stopped pulling blood out of my ears?
doctors arnt always right and i dont know who you could go and see about this problen ,maybe a neuroligist? For me the head spin's felt more like my soul was being ripped out of me or something, it was a very bad feeling. same thing no doctor could tell me why all the speacalists at rehab said it may or may not calm down .There are a few pictures in my recovery group you might get more info from looking at them and google the names. i hope for your sake it does settle down and become more normal. Best of luck daz
