Blessing to all, this is a quiet group, but I can understand. I don't have a whole lot to say either.

Keep in touch all.

www.abta.org

is a good site. Someone else posted this with other sites. It helps to know as much as we can so that when we go to the doctor we can "try" to talk on the same level and ask the question we need for peace of mind.

Since I have to wait so long in between, whenever I think of something I write it down in a log so that I can address my concerns then. Once I walk out of there it is hard to get the answers I need.

Have a great weekend.

" Hi, my husband had glioblastoma multiforme or GBM. He was diagnosed on 11/11/07 and passed nearly 5 months later 4/9/08. It was a very fast disease and has left me reeling. I also have had brain issues. I have benign lesions that caused seizures when i was in school. If you want to know more on these matters i will share with you. bless you everyone. make the time you have with loved ones count. one never knows. my hubby was never sick and only 46. "

" Dear Elizabeth,

My husband also has a brain tumor, a glioblastoma grade 4.
His surgery was 2/19/08, he is having seizures now and is paralyzed on the right side, so he is in a wheelchair. They gave him 14 mos but I am beginning to think he will not make it that long. "

" Dear Becky,

my husband has a glioblastoma multiforme, he had surgery on 2/19/08 but is having sizures and seems to be going down instead of up.
The surgery left him paralyzed on the right side.
He did the radiation and a month of chemo.
Did you husband do radiation and chemo?
My husband is 56. "

" Hi, I just joined yesterday, guess it was good timing! I am 25 and was diagnosed in dec. with a GBM, but then they changed it to an oligostrocytoma, grade 4. Ok so I was diagnosed with a grade 2 oligoastrocytoma 4 years ago and I had surgery and radiation. I had mris every 6 months and everything was going fine. My experience motivated me to go to medical school this year but in december I started having seizures. Two sugeries later I started Temodar which didn't work for me. I am currently doing monthly chemo treatments at Oregon Health and Sciences University. I mention it because it is a fairly new protocol that not known to many people. I don't know if anyone else here has a tumor that would respond to the treatment but maybe people could look it up, it has helped me a lot. Look up Blood Brain Barrier Disruption or Dr. Edward Neuwelt. I know they only do it at a couple of hospitals but Ithought I would mention it. Good luck! "

" Both of my parents had brain tumors. My father had glioblastoma and my mother had meningioma.

I joined this group to offer support to others going thru this difficult situation. I know how hard it can be. "

" Dear Elizabeth,
I am so sorry to hear about your husband's brain tumor. I can relate to your story, and it is a tough battle, let me tell you. My husband was diagnosed with a GBM (glioblastoma multiforme) in Jan. of '06. He had some of the finest doctors in the country treating him. After his initial surgery to remove as much of the tumor as possible, he underwent the standard 33 radiation treatments along with an oral chemo drug. More chemo, 3 clinical trials, and 2 more surgeries followed that. You must hang in there and be as positive and supportive as you can. Unfortunately, my husband lost his struggle with this horrendous disease in March of this year. I am dealing with my grief a day at a time, some of which are okay and others a nightmare. I know what you are going thru. If I can be of any help, please let me know. "
