My hair loss is getting bad, I'm starting to get bald spots. I was thinking of asking my pdoc for a different mood stabilizer, but I'm wondering if the others have the same side effect? I know lithium can cause it, but anyone experince hair loss with other stabilizers?

" Check some of the topics in the past few days, we've been discussing hair loss a lot lately.
Sounds like zinc and selenium (two minerals) added to your vitamin regimen helps eliminate (or at least slow down) the hair loss for some people. "

" Yep.

And my hair's long, so it can really be messy.

Tons in my brush, and always having to pull it out of the shower drain.

:-( "

" Both lithium and lamictil can cause hair loss but so can other antidepressants such as prozac - best thing is to discuss with your doctor "

" I am on Lamictal and luckly my hair loss has not changed. Just the normal loss when washing it. I would check with the pdoc about this and try to get on something else. "
