PAXIL WARNING!

My new pdoc, she's been fired by me now, tried to take me off my Paxil CR 37.5mg. When she lower my dose to 25mg, my behavior and moods when nuts.
I overdosed on my other meds twice in one week and went to ER. My moods and behavior went off the deep end. Paranoai, suicide attempts, break with reality, etc.
If you're on Paxil, don't go off or be very wary. It's notorious for severe withdrawls of the worst sort. See link below for more info...

There's even a website just for Paxil withdrawls called Paxil Progress

" I took Paxil a couple of years ago and it was a nightmare. I had severe tremors and felt very depressed, anxious, even suicidal.

I would go to work and would have to control my tremors as best as I could with an already stress beyond belief job.

I even had friends pick fun at me bc of it. They weren't trying to be mean but it hurt so bad and was so embarrassing. It got worse. Then colleagues I didn't know well started talking behind my back bc no one there knew I was bp.

It was a mystery to me and everyone around me. I even spent all sorts of money having a catscan & MRI as my THEN pdoc was not convinced it was the Paxil.

Eventually just took myself off of it (WHICH WAS HELL) and guess what?

Viola! The fucking tremors went away! Friggin pdoc didn't know what she was doing. Do pdocs REALLY listen to us???? Jeeez... "

" Paxil withdrawals were absolutely HELL. PLEASE NOBODY GO ON IT. YOU WILL REGRET IT. THE WITHDRAWALS ARE THE WORST YOU CAN IMAGINE. SO IF YOUR PDOC WANTS YOU ON PAXIL, JUST SAY NO WAY. "

" the problem is NOT with the Paxil - it is with pdocs who dont warn that mood swings can happen when the dosage is lowered, and with consumers who are not educated about the meds they take. SSRI's can have bad withdrawl effects - period. This is well-documented and not some diabolical secret being withheld from the public. The same thing happened to me when my Effexor dosage was changed. I called my pdoc right away and avoided a possible disaster. I am sorry that happened to you, but it does no one any good to condemn a medication outright over a bad reaction or experience. Thousands of people benefit greatly from these meds without serious side-effects. "

" Well, just like every other drug out there Paxil worked for me while it didn't work for others. Well, worked is a rather strong word. It disconnected me from reality to the point where I wan no longer depressed or manic. At that time in my life the depression was "plan your suicide" depression and the mania was pure rage as in "destroy your furniture" rage. So when the Paxil disconnected me from all that I was so relieved I didn't even care that the sexual side effect was not being able to climax. I was on Paxil for 9 months. I had sex often as well as masturbating, but never came. That part was hell. As for the withdrawal, I never had it. I came off it twice and never had a problem. "

" While I was taking Paxil, it worked great for me but I had to go off of it because of the weight gain and my blood sugar going to high. Weaning off was hell. My doc is GREAT and he worked hard with me on it but it was still hell. Cycling, severe vertigo w/vomiting and nausea all day long, headaches ugh. He did everything he could to minimize the withdrawal and it was still awful. Not a medication in my opinion to go on unless it's a last resort. "

" Reply # 6! If you think the problem is not with Paxil withdrawls you are seriously mistaken. Go do some research on it. There's tons out there plus special sites to help people get off it without killing themselves, losing their jobs, going really insane, etc.
I want to help people learn about Paxil withdrawls, not start a debate or make up a lie about it! Maybe you've been on it and gone off it with no problem but for the rest of us, it's hell. That's why it has the nickname, PAXHELL! "
