Sleep and Seroquel...

I was on Seroquel for a very long time. Last year I took myself off all meds. In May I went back on meds which was good. I'm not taking Seroquel, but Geodon instead. My sleep is quite bad right now and has been since discontinuing Seroquel. I want to sleep again. I crave sleep, but even sleep meds won't give it back to me for more than a few days. I see my pdoc this coming Tuesday and will ask him to put me on a small to medium dose of Seroquel in order to restore my sleep. Does any body else on this site use Seroquel for sleep? The Geodon does help my bp, but does nothing for my sleep. I also take Depakote ER. I've tried Ambien CR, Lunesta, Sonata, and just recently Restoril. None of them worked for more than just a few days. I really want my Seroquel back.

" Overslept & always had a hangover the next day on Seroquel...as little as 25mg. I take Ativan now but as I also take pain pills & add an antihistamine, I usually sleep ok.

Good luck on finding a workable group of meds...I too hate when I can't sleep! "

" i have been taking seroquel on and off for several years and i dont sleep at all without it. other sleep meds make me hyper. i take 600mg a night now and i wouldnt have it any other way. it is the only drug out of the 22 different meds ive tried that has ever worked consistantly. "

" man,my pdoc took me off seroquel! he said the combo of the high dose plus the high doses of abilify and lamictal were making me WAY too sleepy, like i was drugged. but now, i dont sleep AT ALL! he switched me from abilify to invega and said it should help. it isnt. he's now having me up the invega and slipt my lamictal half in the morning, half at night. i just have a bad feelng it's not going to help. i don't think he'll put me back on seroquel though. he's been reluctant to put me on ANY sleep meds. don't know why, i've never been addicted to anything "

" Trazadone is an anitidepressant that is often given at night time because it makes you drowsy. If you take an antidepressant, that might be helpful. Also, Benedryl is a fairly benign medication that does not interact or interfere with many other medications...and it makes you drowsy, too. Talk to your dr. about those if you think they could help, and see what he/she says. "

" Go for it. Seroquel is great for sleep. It always works. Risperdal might be worth a try, too.

The down side to Seroquel is weight gain. "

" Ya my seroquel nocks me out, but before that I eat everything in sight. And have no memory of what I ate or did before bed. I have not taken it yet, I usually take half now then right before bed. I really don't like it that much, I also take restoril, Honestly tho seroquel really helps my moods the next day. I can tell the difference if I miss a dose. "

" Have just started Seroquel 400mgs (200mgs twice a day). Sleepy and stoned all the time. Bleugh. However, it really puts me out to sleep when I take my final 200mgs at bedtime. "
