" i don't know but I want to try Ablify I mean why the heck not I can't take lamictal and depekene and Lithium brought me too far down supposedly Ablify Does not bring you down as quick. Seeing as I am depressed again i don't think it will hurt!! "

" I've taken Abilify. It is really person-specific. Some people get really *up* on it, others get really *down* (as in, brought down out of mania), and others simply go 'why am I taking a placebo?'

Whether or not it does anything to your *weight* will depend first on how your *brain* responds to it and second on how you respond to being *stable*. (i.e. some people eat less while manic, some eat less while depressed, some only get control when stable).

I hope that helps.

Dymphna "

" My doc said Abilify is not supposed to cause weight gain which is why she switched mr from Seroquel to Abilify and I lost 25 lbs. I have had no weight gain or bad side effects from it, I take it with Lamictal and Klonopin. "

" My pdoc put my 14 year old daughter on abilify after she gained weight on zyprexia. He did this because not does Abilify not make you gain weight...it often times makes you loose weight. She has been on it now for 30 some odd days and has lost 2 pounds so far. "

" Not2Sure...you say you want to try anilify in lew of Li, Lamectial or Deppakkote. Abilify is a totally different class of medication then those though. The three you listed are all mood stabilizers and abilify is a anti-pyscotic...totally different drug family all together "

" The Lamictal is great for the depression and the Abilify quiets the mania, they work really well in conjucntion with each other for me. No nasty side effects or weight gain either. "

" My pdoc told me that it's not usually a problem for most people on Abilify to gain weight. I just started mine on Friday so I guess we shall wait and see if it is a side effect I will have, I pray NOT!! "
