my bf is bipolar, but refuses to accept it!!!

He is so very bipolar, he has all the signs, but he refuses to go to the dr. I think it would make a world of difference. He has violent mood swings, by violent I mean verbally about himself and others(including me,well most of it me.) He will be totally happy one moment and enraged the next over the smallets things.He has been asked by friends and family to please at least go see someone. He really doesn't have any friends. At least not any that can stand him more than an hour or so. I think it's because he's burned so many bridges and he's delusional about other peoples motivation where he is concerned. Everybody is out to take advantage of him. He will be so mean and hurtful, saying just the perfect thing to hurt me, then later he will apologize and act like its no big deal and I should just move on and forget that he said or did what he did and I cannot do that-I don't think many of us can. How can I convince him to at least talk to someone that can help find out why he is like this??? Any and all suggestions are welcomed as I've tried everything and am about ready to go insane on this rollercoaster ride he has me on!!!!!

Here's my advice.. you're not going to like it... I say run, run away as fast as you can..it's difficult enough dealing with a beeper who is trying to take measures to control the disorder.. if he won't even seek help then.. there just isn't a lot of hope.. maybe he'll get help once you leave, then you can give it another shot with him.. it's tough but you gotta look after yourself first

I'mafraid I agree with Firenadice, I'm not sure why you want to subject yourself to this treatment from someone that does not even want help. You are worth more, you deserve better and it's time you stood up and respected yourself. Be kind and loving to yourself and turn your backon anyone that is not willing to treat you the same! (((((HUGS)))))

Unfortunately, I have been trying to get into Housing, I am on disability,which is next to nothing and I can't make it on my own. I just lost my drivers liscence and don't have the money for the fine to get it back. He pretty much knows I'm stranded. I hate being like this but it's next to impossible to get housing assistance. I've always worked and this is making me insane also!!!I wish there ws a miracle surgery to make it all better..

he does sound bipoler.you are in a messed up place in your life.if he dosn,t want help your allmost out of luck.maybe if you tell him that you are going to get somekind of help if there is any,and there is.maybe he will go with you.let him know you do love him.you just don,t know how to deal with his mood changes.that is if you do love him,and it sounds like it.if not dump him you have a right to a life to.he sounds a lot like me befor i got help.i didn,t get help till i stoped grinking,and doing drugs.if hes in to that.thats a difernt thing all together.if he loves you he will try something i would think.im here most times 1 or 2 days out of the week if you need a mans vuew.im getting marry wensday so i will be in vegas for a week or so,but i will get back to you sometime.
