Be very careful with this drug: do not under ANY circumstance take it in conjunction with Trazadone. There are many healthcare professionals that are not aware of the interactions of combining these two drugs. Taking these two together nearly crippled my brother's motor skills and caused him to hallucinate.

I had weird neuro stuff going on and coming off of it. I was taken off of it as a mood stabilzer because studies said it wasn't working like they wanted it to. Are you taking it as a mood stabalizer or for pain? I went manic as all hell on it, didn't seem to be a mood stabalizer for me.

I took neuronitn when I was 19. That was the first drug they put on to take the edge off my full blown manic episode. It is an anti-convulsant,so the feelings of being drunk and sloppy are accurate side effects of the drug, since I also experienced them first hand. I was on 1300mg per day and I was also on Ativan. Then once my epsiode went away I was placed on Depakote. No more Neurontin or Ativan.

I'm on neurontin...but a lower dose then you are on. I haven't noticed any side effects for me. I am taking it with other meds such as lamictal, lexapro, and ativan....till no side effects. But I can see how it makes you spacey. Everyone has a different reaction to each drug. Has the spaciness gone away after a few weeks?

Thanks to all who responded. I was not aware that it is bad to take the neurontin with trazodone, good thing I don't take trazodone anymore. I am also finding studies that suggest using neurontin does not help with mood stabilization. I was prescribed it for anxiety, if you can believe that. Bottom line, I think I need to ditch it and stick with the klonopins for the anxiety. THANKS to all who posted. I really appreciate it.

Hi, my daughter takes 300mg/day of Neuronton for anxiety, along with 150mg lamictal and 900 mg lithium. She has not had any problems at this dosage, and this combo seems to work well for her. She had chronic state of anxiety, panic and jumpiness.

I was on Neurontin for a short time several years back. It made me feel wonderful but kind of out of touch with reality. It also made my libido incredibly wacky...poor b/f could not keep up. But it was all short lived, maybe 3 or 4 months, then nothing...went back to my normal depressive/manic state. It was good while it lasted. But that was just me, maybe for others it works. But if it is making you feel weird or strange no matter what, call your Pdoc immediately...as in any other kind of med. What I want to try is Abilify but have no Pdoc right now...nothing else has seemed to work or has given me bad side effects. Good luck
