It is working very well for me. My pdoc and I decided on Abilify because my mind is on constant high gear and it is suppose to help slow that down, which it has. It has slowed me down enough that I can now take the time to cook for my husband and that is something I have not done in years. He told me today, the last two weeks he has started seeing the me he fell in love with 20 years ago. So I would take that as a good idea it is working at least for me.

I've been on abilify for almost 3 years. It is working well for me. I don't 'think' as fast as I used to. It slows me down enough to be able to read and do things that I used to do.

I took Abilify for six months, and at first I had no side effects. It slowed my obsessive thoughts and I had fewer swings. The reason I stopped was that at about 2pm in the afternoon, I would get very tired. So tired, that making it through the rest of the day seemed impossible. I would get home after work and collapse. I also gained weight while on it.

2mg/day sent me into a manic dementia within a half a week.
I switched to 0.5mg/day, and it took about a month to get to the same manic dementia (no focus, no short-term memory, no access to my thoughts).

Hope that it works for you!! I was on it for about 10 days and it made me feel like I was gonna jump out of my skin! I could not sit still and could not concentrate worth a damn. Had to go off of it because it was affecting every part of my life - in a bad way.

at first my pdoc put me on 5mg and it worked perfect. stopped racing thoughts and i was able to concentrate. then they got greedy and bumped me up to 10mg, and it made me tired and zombie-like. when they bumped me back down to 5mg, it didnt work the same. i felt all spacy and started craving carbs like nobody's business. i took myself off it. i wish they never bumpped me up, because i could have seen myself staying on the med.

i'm on 30mg of abilify daily. it really helps slow my racing thoughts down. i was on a higher dose, but i got it lowered when the dr added lamictal to my cocktail. i still need some of a dose, due to psychotic thoughts. it's a good med for me.
