Lamictal was approved to go generic from Teva Pharmaceuticals, and they have license to produce generic Lamictal through the end of 2009 as it stands from the FDA. I can't find anything from Teva regarding when they will launch generic Lamictal in higher dosages. As it stands right now, they have very low dosage chewables in generic for pedes, but nothing for us bigger folk right now.

(http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/544270):

Generic Lamotrigine Tablets (Lamictal) for Seizures and Bipolar Disorder

On August 30, the FDA approved first-time generic formulations for lamotrigine 25-mg, 100-mg, 150-mg, and 200-mg tablets (made by Teva Pharmaceuticals USA; brand name Lamictal, made by GlaxoSmithKline).

Lamotrigine is indicated as adjunctive therapy for partial seizures and generalized seizures of Lennox-Gastaut syndrome in patients aged 2 years and older.

It is also indicated for conversion to monotherapy in adults with partial seizures who are receiving treatment with a single enzyme-inducing antiepileptic drug, and for the maintenance treatment of bipolar I disorder to delay the occurrence of mood episodes in patients treated for acute mood episodes with standard therapy.

" I went to pick up my prescriptions yesterday. I get both Lamictal and Cymbalta and together they cost me about $75. Yesterday though it was only $35 and lo-and-behold the Lamical was generic.

My psychiatrist had told me it was going generic soon but he didn't know when.

Got it at Wallgreens in AZ. "

" I don't take Lamictal. I used to before I got the dreaded rash at 100mgs. There was a rash all over my body. I had to stop taking it. I now take Geodon, and it works well for my paranoia and it works well as a mood regulator in higher doses. I take 160 mg of Geodon a day. "
