Yup, I am with you. I am waiting until Teva gets off their butts and delivers it over here since the FDA already approved them. No sign of a date on their website though.

I just wandered in...I'm not on lamictal, but I do take Topamax....I order generic Topiramate from Canada and its great! Even when it goes generic in a few months here in the states, I'll likely still order from Canada b/c just b/c something goes generic doesn't mean its cheap! My Topamax comes from Germany and believe me, if it were not effective, I would know....my moods would be swinging wildly and I wouldn't have these damn Topamax side effects...grrrr....(I had the same side effects when taking the brand name drug, too)

I have been purchasing 200 mg Lamotrigene from England, at a savings of over $150.00/month and it has been working great. It's makers have been Dr. Reddy's and Bristol Laboratories, both with English addresses.

I found a press release from England's Board of Health which stated that Glaxo Smith Kline had tested and approved the generic.

Does anyone have an accurate date for its US release?

Lamictal generic went on the market on July 23, 2008.

My insurance stopped paying for my Lamictal, so I'm stuck with a monthly bill of $144.57, which I can't afford. Last week my shrink told me that it was going generic that week, so I Googled and found the press release below. BTW, if you have problems with foreign drug mfgrs, keep in mind 1. that this company has a US branch, and 2. that Teva already produces hundreds of generics, and you might already be taking one of theirs.

Teva Introduces First Generic Lamictal® Tablets in the United States

Jerusalem, Israel, July 23, 2008 - Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Nasdaq: TEVA) announced today that it has commenced commercial shipment of its generic version of Lamictal® (Lamotrigine) Tablets, 25mg, 100 mg, 150 mg, and 200 mg. Teva’s Lamotrigine tablets are the AB-rated generic equivalent of GlaxoSmithKline’s Lamictal® Tablets, and are indicated as adjunctive therapy in the treatment of partial seizures and the generalized seizures of Lennox-Gastaut syndrome, for conversion to monotherapy in adults with partial seizures who are taking certain other antiepileptic agents, and for maintenance treatment of Bipolar I Disorder. The brand products had annual sales of approximately $2.2 billion in the United States for the twelve months that ended March 31, 2008, based on IMS sales data. In February 2005, GlaxoSmithKline and Teva entered into an agreement to settle patent litigation under which GlaxoSmithKline granted Teva the exclusive right to manufacture and sell a generic version of Lamictal® during the six-month pediatric exclusivity which ends on January 22, 2009.
