" I believe the more you talk about death, the easier it is to use the word.DEATH is a part of LIFE!!!I use all the terms died, dead, lost, passed on,passed and crosed over, although i prefer the word 'passed'!I do agree with reply #8 and #9,Death is very cold and harsh, but a person's spirit never dies, just the body stops living.Your soul/spirit lives forever!! " This is something that's different for everyone I think. I prefer to say passed away because that's what she did: quietly passed away. Saying she died just sounds so abrupt, ya know?
When my Mom first passed away we couldn't bear the sound of 'my Mom died.'
Dad would say, "when your Mom left..."
I began saying "when I lost my Mom..."
But then I realized, I haven't lost her. I know right where she's at and will be seeing her again someday.
I prefer passed away I guess because it's a more gentle way of putting it. "

" I always say Yolanda was killed. To say just that she died or passed on seems to absolve that monster of what she did to her. "

" I think it depends how much I'm still grieving the loss... when the loss is still fresh in my mind and the pain is at the surface, I tend to say "passed". When I've become more comfortable with the idea, or when talking about someone who I don't know, I tend to use died/dead (ie, President Lincoln died) . "

" I prefer passed away. I don't think my parents are "dead" in the sense that they are alive and at peace in another place. I talk to my mom all the time. "

" Dead is true and real. So I say dead. My mom and dad are both dead.

Though I do say: "I lost my mom." What I mean is God stole her from me the s0d! "
