tailbone pain...narcotics?

I have an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon on tuesday for my wrists and tailbone. I have tried every anti-inflammatory drug there is, hot and cold compress etc.....Does any take narcotics for pain like this??

The only time I remember a drug working for pain it was a narcotic like vicoden or percocet.

Would it help my tailbone and wrists?

" Both of those medicines can be helpful with pain but they certainly will not fix any problem. Narcotics are a last resort because of all the dangers involved and the high instance of abuse. Also, it depends on what's actually wrong. There may be something more effective depending on your diagnosis.

" ~LisaNeedHelp~

I had a serious injuru to my right wrist in '99. I severed EVERYTHING in there. I cannot type or hold thing with that hand anymore.

My coccyx(sp) also hurts badly too. It has hurt since I delivered my last baby (april 15) badley.

I am aware of possible narcotic dependency, but there were many times I had to take them and did fine without them....I just wonder if they work for this type of short term pain. I guess I would need a diagnosis first, lol! "

" Depending on what's what, I find that even though I'm on vicodin and other medicine (anti-inflamatory and nerve stiumlaters) my tailbone stil can ache even if I jsut took the dosage.

Good luck! "

" I am having the same problem. I fracture, well just about shattered my tailbone and I broke my sacral plate. I went to a primary doc and she looked me in the face and said well I am not a ortho so I can't help you. I went to an ortho they did a mri and told me to go to pain mangament. They gave me mobic (anti-inflam) what a joke. and they gave me baclofen again what a joke. That was 3 weeks ago. The pain is so so bad I can barely stand it anymore. I am going next week. I will let you know what she tells me. Vicodin was the only thing that was helping for the time being. "

" Hi,
i also hurt my tailbone and unfortuanlly there is nothing they can do for this, you just have to ride it out, that is what they told me, so since there isnt a cure, they did not recommend a opiate, as far as the wrist can you wear a brace "
