im 20 years old and about 3 years ago on the job i injuried myself by pulling a pallet jack, with to much weight on the pallet. I pulled it wrong. Ever since then i have been in alot of pain in my lower back. The doctors say it was a pre existing condition and that i aggervated the area. I guess its my L5 on both side and i believe my L4 on both sides. I cant remember the name of what i have but basiclly i have fractures on those spots. I have had corisone shots i have tried phycial therapy twice the first time it made my pain worst and then i went again to another place and it started to go well but workers comp stopped approving it so i stopped going. I have been have problems with standing and walking and sitting and laying down and dancing, i cant do them for to long or just cant do them at all. I have returned to work since my injury with a 10 lbs weight resriction but just about a month ago my doctor raised it to 30 and he says it's perment. It crushes me that 30 lbs is all im going to be able to lift for the rest of my life. My doctor wont prescribe me any painkillers even though i tell him i have pain that is about 9 or 10 on a scale. They say i have no nerve damage, yet i keep having shooting pain down my leg sometimes both legs and now i am get a shooting pain from my lower back up my right side to my shoulder. No one can explain that. I just feel so lost it. It just seems like everyone has way worst back pain then me and that i shouldnt be complaining. I just have found myself being so depressed about this situation and just want someone to help me,or just talk to me i dont know where else to turn.......

" I am sorry for your pain and frustration. I agree with nansueflan, you definately need a more understanding doctor who is one YOUR side. You shouldn't have to live like this. HUGS. I am here if you want to talk. I experience back pain on a daily basis. I have just learned to deal with it (and the help of painkillers). Those aren't the real answer though. I wish you luck.... aain, HUGS "

" It's Spring time.
Decompress the spine time.

find a pool
get in it
7 days / week 15 -30 min each session and do 2-3 sessions/day
15-90 min / day

be consistant

Pools are inexpensive therapy
You do not need a RX.....

Drugs / cortisone are not going to HEAL your back.
Only core ex / stability ex. will.....over time.

No quick fix

With 3 years in pain
It will take about 1/2 as long to recover (1.5 years)

READ and educate yourself, so that you are not at the mercy of: "the doctor"

" I have had those same problems in those same areas. I have the most amazing pain specialist and he does something called pulsed radiofrequency lesioning. It is amazing. I get great relief from for up to 6 months at a time. He studied it in Amsterdam. It is relatively simple to do on my end, it is done with needles and I sleep through the procedure. It is done in his office with propafol (sp?) which you wake right up from, takes about an hour and then I go home. I am a little sore for a couple of days, but hurt far less than when I went in. It helps my back and my legs. I also had a neurostimulator put in for the legs, my pain was in both and very severe. If I can be of further help, let me know. Don't get discouraged, you just have to find the right doctor in your area. God Bless you. "

" J,

Do you have health insurance? I would highly recommend finding another Dr (try a neurosurgeon) that doesn't work for the workers comp people & explain your symptoms to him. More than likely, he'll order an MRI for you so they can see whether you have any ruptured/bulging discs, degenerative disc disease, etc. Having pain radiate down the back of your legs is a common sciatica symptom (when the sciatic nerve is being injured). I just had surgery on my L2-3 disc on the 1st b/c it was pressing on my spinal cord & causing pain down the back of my left leg.

Also, in the interim, try to move in ways that doesn't put stress on the back. When you go from laying down to sitting up, roll on your side and then sit up -- don't bend from the waist lying on your back. Also, water/pool therapy is a great, safe way to build your muscles (key to healing disc problems) up w/o putting weight on them.

Hope this helps! I know how frustrating and hopeless the pain can be when you don't seem to have any idea of what's wrong or how to fix it. Good luck. :) "

" The injections on your back will make it worse and will add more scar tissue. I take it you have had an MRI scan or xrays, you need a specialist not just in name but someone who actually knows what they are looking at. Only an MRI scan will show up nerve damage.

Have you been dancing since childhood? If so depending what level you were at this may have caused the issue with your back. "
