seriously, i took adam to his speech/social skills and he was buddied up with a little boy about his age with HFA as well. while waiting in the parking lot i got to talking to who i thought was the boys mom. turns out she is is foster mom, she has fostered and adopted one child with a severe brain injury, she is now fostering 3 other little boys, all on the spectrum, one severe, one moderate, and one hfa. she is in the process of adopting these little boys as well. she told me that they came from parents that dumped them due to them having autism and other foster parents had abused one of them, the one that is moderate autism, severely, leaving scars on him. she didnt strike me as rich or poor, average, right now i know the state pays her to take care of them, but she is adopting them which means she is giving up the financial suport from the state, now the kids will get disability, but it will be based on her husbands income so it wont be like she is getting righ from this. i could see she loved the boys, and you could look at them and tell they were well taken care of and loved. tey all called her mommy. she asked me if i thought she was doing the right thing, i told her she has to do what is best for her, but if she goes through with the adopitions she will be helping children that otherwise would end up in an institution due to no one taking the time to help them. this lady is an angel, how many people out there that willingly adopt children with handicaps, two of them severe? a true angel, i have invited her to join us and will see her again tomorrow and encourage her to join again, she has no "support" due to all the dr and therapy appts she takes 4 boys too all week long. what an incredible lady! i just wanted to share this with everyone. there are angels among us and our children!
