I had a Podiatrist recommend a pin in my big toe because of my arthritis. My internest said be careful of that operation?? Any one been through toe surgery for arthritis?

I have had similar advice and also advice to have the big toe joint replaced. A podiatrist warned me against it. He says people who have ops are often unhappy because the op alters the biomechanics of the whole foot,leading to new problems ans more pain. I am hoping my cortisone injection will suffice "
