I didn't think that I would be advocating for medication, but neurontin for nerve pain is considerable successful for me.
The irony is that it is not typically prescribed for nerve pain related to Arthritis. I'ts not a perfect solution -- but a decrease in pain is worth it. Posted on 04/13/08, 11:04 am |

Here, here! I take 2 neuronton nightly for foot pain. It is actually an epilepsy medication did you know that. But my rhuemie said it calms down the nerve endings and that is why it is prescribed. I couldn't agree with you more, it is really helpful! ((hugs))marcia

Ever hear of LOW dose 4-AP (start like 3mg go up to 5-8mg)
Helps with nerve impluses on damaged nerves.

I have RSD, fibromyalgia,and osteoporosis in addition to arthritis. Neurontin has been the only medication that has eased my pain a little. I take 3200 mg daily.

It's great that neurontin seems to be helping. I'm always interested in anything that can reduce chronic pain, even mildly. The only caution I've heard about Neurontin is related to dose...that in large doses it can have negative neurological and cognitive side effects...Although I've heard it is used for mood disorders, in addition to epilepsy and pain, I'd be watchful for any uncomfortable symptoms.

I have to take the neurontin at night because it makes me sleepy and very loopy. Each pill is 300mg and my doctor has told me I can take up to 4 a day or 1200mg. The doctor says that 3600mg is the largest dose that is suggesteed. I cannot imagine taking that the 600 makes me tired! ((hugs))

i took it for a week or so one pill at night for 3 days then one at night and one in the morning for 3 days and i was supposed to up it to 3 times a day but i didnt get that far as soon as i started taking it twice a day i couldnt stop sleeping and it made me feel like i couldnt think and blurred vision. but hey if it works for others. everyone is different. im glad it has worked for all of you
