I have only just started menopause and have yet to notice any difference. Something to keep eye out for though.

I cant believe no one is interested in this? I have found some evidence of my theory in a book I've got from the library and will post it when my pain is better!

As I mentioned earlier the book I got from the library says:
"Mild arthritis in larger joints seems to affect both men and women equally. As age advances, however, there is a marked increase in the number of women being severely affected.
It has been suggested that female sex hormones have a bearing on this difference in incidence. Some studies have shown a reduced rate in the occurrence of osteoarthritis in women receiving hormone replacement therapy (HRT) at, or around, the menopause. This would confirm the importance of hormonal influence in the onset of osteoarthritis"

I always thought it was because I was getting older and gets progressively worse with time. I never thought of it.

I'm not sure if my hysterectomy at 45 is what caused a flare up of my arthritis (I have had it since I was 17) or it is the fact that I am now 48.I wonder if there is a hormone factor increased arthritis function/pain. I think it might be just getting old.
