one day, almost exactly two years ago to this day, I was bounding up the steps as I always did, and when I got upstairs my legs started aching and felt as if I had just run a marathon.I wondered what was going on, and waited two months to see if it would just disappear. Well, it didn't. I guess I was shocked to realize that one day something could go wrong, and would not be temporary. It would never go away, and I would have to live with limited ability as to where and how I would navigate.
I thought about angioplasty and bypass, but decided, at least for now, that I could live with it. It prevents me from traveling except by car and when I walk I have to stop every few blocks or so, "to reset me pins". There are far worse ailments than mine, and I am always mindful of others who deal with far worse, so forgive me please if I am whining. Thanks for the forum to unload. I send good wishes to my fellow travelers. Posted on 09/06/07, 01:09 am |

Hi Flatbushgirl
I'm convinced the only one capable of still bouncing is Tigger . I share your frustration with limited ability as to where and how I would navigate. About a month ago I packed up the family and headed to Lake Louise (Canada) (This is where my current pics are taken from) but I knew full well this year I will not be able to hike up to the Plain of Six Glaciers (my all time Favourite place) It also made me realize that there will be a time when I may never get to get that close to it again . Next year I will go but eventually that chapter in life will have to come to a close . I am also thankful Daily strength is here to hang my hat once in awhile , because although others may have far worse health problems we all really only know our own . A big 220 lb hug for you today and keep smiling because realisticly Tigger is kind of an over excited nut anyway .

you are sweet Banff.
I too am in the same place and also know that others may be far worse off then me... but then again, I also have HIV so I'm sure that will have it's symptoms rearing their ugly heads soon as well. Just deal with what you can. I've heard advice on both sides of the spectrum (surgery vs. not). I go tomorrow and guess I'll have to make some sort of choice as well. I have five sons (20, 19, 13, 10 and 7) so I have to think about the long haul... Hope things turn out okay for you. I know it's sad to not be able to participate as you once did.
