Hi Everybody,
I know this is brought up often but there are days when I get so fixated on little sensations, especially in my chest. I get so frightened that my heart is just going to stop beating. Mind you, I haven't always been very kind to my body over my life (eating disorder which is a LOT better and alcoholism which is in recovery). I'm 35, I'm physically fit...... I just so scared today. I know many of you can relate. I'm just reaching out for some support. I don't want to run to the ER for no reason..... Posted on 05/17/08, 12:05 pm |

Know the feeling all too well. I change my scenery such as go to a public place or start a project to keep my mind busy until the sensation passes. It is such an uncomfortable place to be. Hope you are feeling better soon. I also had a network of friends that I would call and they would speak with me about our kids, etc. until the feeling passed. Hope this helps.

hey i get that feeling too. i felt that way yesterday and i went out with my girlfriend and it all went away. but when i got home it all started again but it wasn't as worst.. try to be strong and don't let your mind win :) hope you feel better.

I think it's anxiety that's causing this feeling you have.
Try distracting yourself, do some activity to keep busy. If that doesn't work try some breathing exercises. Take care.

I know the feeling. For some reason, you have been programing your brain to think the worst. You need to reprogram your thoughts and not assume the worst, most life threatening scenario that you can come up with. Next time you think ur dying take a a deep belly breath and say to yourself, that's only the anxiousness talking, it's not real, the last time I thought this I didn't end up dying and I won't die this time either. Eventually you will be able to build up a resistance to the thoughts as long as you don't focus on the misery.

you're looking at yourself too closely. step back emotionally and get your mind off of yourself. when we are alone too much, it is easy to become self-fixated. when i start to feel that way i go out into public or socialize with a friend. hope this helps.
