I was recently forced to quit my job due to the level of stress and my inability to cope. I was having panic attacks on a nightly basis, staying up as late as I could at night to avoid the inevitable panic attacks, and dry-heaving each morning before work.

My therapist told me to quit my job and take a few weeks to heal. After doing so, he has now told me I can start looking for part-time work...as an experiment to see if I am able to work.

I have gone from a good income (but basically living paycheck-to-paycheck)...to no income...and will have little income, after finding something part-time. I am now going to have to pay for medical insurance, which is going to take a good chunk of change each month from my part-time pay.

Has anyone else ever dealt with this? I don't know which is worse...having a sucky, stressful job that paid the bills and provided free medical insurance, or geting rid of the sucky job and stressing over how I am going to pay my bills.

" Yeah, I left a really good job for basically the same reasons and have struggled ever since. I just can't seem to get over the fact that I left such a good job with benefits and struggle so now. I think I should have tried to stick it out..... "

" I think I was way past the point of trying to stick it out... 3 Klonopins per day and panic attacks nightly...I couldn't have gone on like that.

Though now I have exchanged one stressor for another... "

" It definitely is a catch 22 as they say. Personally, I agree with the route you are going now. I got laid off from a very stressful job and felt a big sense of relief. However, I haven't been able to secure a new one and my Cobra coverage is running out. This is also stressful but no where near the stress of that awful job.
I'm basically taking things a day at a time. Things seem to have a way of working themselves out. "

" I think you made the right choice even though its painful right now. While you were making money at that job you were paying to high a price mentally. Hopefully something comes along soon for you. :) "
