Back to the doctor after 3 years of no problems

hi i'm new here.

3 years ago after many attempts i finally came off the effexor i was taking to treat depression and anxiety. i have been great, fine ever since.

then a few weeks ago the anxiety started again. at first i just put it down to just normal feeling anxious about work - it can be pretty stressful sometimes so completely normal to have some angst about it from time to time.

but the anxiety wouldn't go away. it got worse and worse and seeped into every aspect of every day and then my very slight OCD habits started getting more and intense and i've been driving myself crazy with this constant counting.

and now i've just hit a wall. brain complete fug. can't do a thing. called in sick to work.

anyway - i have a doctor's appointment this afternoon. i just don't know what to say. there is no way i am going back on the effexor. when i came off that stuff i swore i would never, ever take it again.

but i so desperately need a break from the anxiety and don't want to go back on medication and the waiting list for CBT is forever long and i don't see how i could explain the appointments away to work anyway and i just need a break from this constant and exhausting anxiety.

i don't really know if i'm asking for advice or just ranting. i haven't figured out protocol in this group yet. i just needed to get it all down.

" Hate that this has hit you again. I ordered a cd online called Think right now (Dissolving panic and anxiety). I got it in yesterday and put in in when I went to bed last night. Wasn't really able to take full advantage because my Grandbaby is sick and wouldn't go to sleep. Anyway, it is suppose to work amazingly well. They have these cd's for all sorts of problems. Take a look on the internet and see what you think. Best of luck. "

" HI apart from self help cds and books and therapy, theres no much else apart from medication. i know you dont want to go back on it, but if you dont get better with the self help methods, try therapy, u can get it privately after work hours, you have to pay obviosuly but it is worth it for the 'after hours'
can u not try a different medication - im on mirtazapine (remeron) and itsbeen great, no weird feelings, no side effects (apart from a bit of weight gain) and its not so hard to come off ?? "
