I am having huge fear of the dentist! Anyone have any helpful hints for me about controlling my anxiety while I'm there?

Not sure if anyone can relate, but I've struggled with Panic and Anxiety for about 6 years now. I've been in CBT for over a year and I've made great strides. I lost my dad about a year and a half ago and he was a huge outlet for me to talk to and release some anxiety...now that he's gone my anxiety has been back in full effect.
I graduated from school and found a great job, but for some reason, I've found myself in great fear and anxiety about having too many tasks at work. I've always had the symptoms of nausea, sweating, muscle trembling, unreality, dizziness, fatigue, etc when I'm panicky. But lately, I've become so overwhelmed and fearful that I can't handle everything, that I can't talk...if I open my mouth I feel like I'll gag, I have a hard time eating, and my sleep is screwy...I'll wake up like an hour before I NEED to wake up and I'll be so worried about the day... I have to travel to Chicago to meet a few new clients for work, and I'm afraid I'll gag or throw up when I go out there to meet them...I'm really worried about it, it seems like a huge monster... yes when I got gad 4 months ago I had similar problem but worse. I would be up all night then go to work and dry heave all day. Its to much adreneline in your system its aflight responce you can runnaway faster if you thro up first. Iwould try some med until it comms down.

Have experienced absolutely everything you have described. Sorry but I don't have any easy answer for you...but you definately sound over anxious. I would try not to eat too much while you are with your clients...thinking of eating will only make you feel more sick. Do what I have done for years, say you have already eaten and stick to a coffee or what ever you fancy.I find deep breathing helps (if you can calm yourself down to do it) I know it is not easy. I used to go into work every morning and make myself sick before going into the office. It seemed the only way I could stop myself from feeling as if I was choking.
