I was on Zoloft. I wanted to see if I switched to something else, if I could lose weight easier. Dr. put me on Wellbutrin. It did not work for me. I did have more panic attacks. I could not stop crying. I switched back to Zoloft and I feel way better. Everyone is different. Good luck!!

My doctor doesn't beleive it is causing me to CRY and have more panic - I just wonder - he said to continue my relaxation techniques, etc. GARBAGE - hard for me. I am getting better, just freaking today that the wellbutrin is not right but I've been on it for 12 weeks now so you'd think the anxiety part would be gone?

I had a friend who was on wellbutrin who loved it. He didn't have any problems with it exept some moodiness here and there. When I first started having really bad anxiety my doctor put me on Lexapro and it increased my anxiety immensely. To be honest I'm somewhat surprised that the doctor put you on both since lexapro also is supposed to work for depression. That's why they get the big bucks though. I would question the Lexapro before I questioned the wellbutrin.

i took wellbutrin for one year. it did seem to help with depression. if i took more than 150mg per day, i became too anxious. i have been off of it for 2 weeks now.

They put me on Lexapro because it's for generalized anxiety and that is what I have???? The Welbutrin part is for the happy mood which I need too along with sexual side effects from Lexapro - it's supposed to be a very good mix to augment each other - we'll see - I just want it to end - it will right? Eventually you just forget and move on in life? Maybe I've made this a habit which I'm afraid of so I hopenot - I just want it to go away like it ALWAYS has. Episodes are normally alike aren't they or can they be worse and stick around a lot longer? My doctors tell me they are normally all the same so should go into remission again.

I am no expert, but here is what my doc said. Wellbutrin is for depression and can make you have panic attacks. i asked him to put me on the Wellbutrin and Lexapro together as I have gained weight on the lexapro and wanted to use the wellbutrin to counteract that. he said absolutely not. With people that have anxiety, it can actually make your anxiety worse and cause you to have massive panic attacks. (I do know someone that does take both and is fine) My doc says it isn't even worth the risk to try in my case as he doesn't want me to have to deal with that level of anxiety if he can help it. He says he would never prescribe the 2 together nor would he prescribe wellbutrin for any of his patients that have anxiety disorder.
Just what I was told.

Well that is certainly discouraging. I was told by three doctors that it's a very good combination - so I guess we'll see. I see him in January and if no change in my panic, I'll complain AGAIN. I agree though - one time I was on Effexor though and it caused me major anxiety until it finally worked after about 15 weeks. Weird stuff. I just wish I could see him sooner than January.

So, do you know definitely that with the Lexapro you have sexual side effects? I was afraid of that as well, and I have not had the major sexual side effects some people have. It takes a little longer, but I still have a good sex life....I know that typically they will give Wellbutrin for that reason, my sister & a girlfriend of mine are on it with prozac for that reason. Can you maybe talk to your doctor & see if you can't try the Lexapro alone?

I don't see him until January so I'll see how I feel then. I'd like to be on Lexapro alone - I just worry about the Wellbutrin and being anxious.
