Falling into my anxiety
Watch this
View More Posts
Hi,
I have had anxiety issues for years, and have been on a few different medications... I am currently on Lexapro 10mg.
It has been going really well up until lately. I am going through some really complicated family issues, financial issues... so my stress levels will naturally increase... But I can feel myself falling down that all familiar hole... panic attacks, not leaving the house, cutting out everyone that cares, anxiety driving...
Do I just hope that it passes and keep going with my Lexapro or should I go and see a doctor about it? I can't expect medication to make it all better every time... I know it won't make the issues go away, but it will help me to not over react about everything won't it?

" Yes see a doctor before you go further into that hole. As a newbie to meds, I am a believer in doing whatever you need to do to feel better and not worry about being on something or when you can get off. "

" i would see my doctor, do you have a therapist, if not i would really recommend this,
go back to basics, this is all a learning process and each episode can affect us differently, use breathing exercises, eft, music, meditation, there is lots of free info and guidance on all of these through google searches,
you will be in my thoughts "

" I'm on lexapro and it doesn't really help my anxiety. I thought it was just an anti-deoressant. A really good medication that helps calm me down is Chlorazopan or something close to that. You should also try learning some coping techniques and breathing exercizes even though it doesn't seem like they would help they really do. "

" How long have you been on the Lexapro? I was on it 5 years and just the past few months I have had the anxiety & depression all over again. It usually starts from some sort of crisis or stress. Talk to your doctor. Mine switched me over to Effexor xr, I've only been on it about 5 days, but I believe it will help. Try praying, deep breathing any thing that can make you relax. When do you feel the anxiety? Is it all the time or just mornings? How do you react to it, what are your symptoms? I am new to the forum, if you like add me to your friend list. Hugs and good luck! "

" See a therapist. A good one can really help you realize things you probably wouldn't on your own. Mine has helped that way and now I see things, people, a little differently. More of what they actually are-not just what they or it is on the surface. "

" Thank you all so much for your replies. I went to the doc and she changed me over to effexor. I am off lexapro and three days I can start the new meds. The doctor was really good this time. I felt heard for once.
Until it takes effect I have the kids till Monday so that will keep me occupied. We'll see how I go I guess. Will be seeing a councillor as soon as I can afford one. "
