I believe I mentioned to you all that I completed a hair analysis kit and received the results about a month ago.
I spoke with Dr. Katherine Akin who has stopped her Naturopath practice full-time just to focus on this area. As she spoke with me today, she said that I am filled with a variety of heavy metal toxins. She said that of course Aluminum was by far the highest but I also had Lead, Mercury, Cadmium, and Arsenic. She said there is absolutely no way that a traditional doctor could not believe that heavy metals is a major contributing factor to this disease. I had my first acupunture today and it was interesting to say the least. I've been having some pain in my right hip and right ankle area. It's been bothering me for two days. An hour since this procedures, the pain is gone. She also put some into my scalp and down along the back. She said that this opens the nerves and allows positive energy to emerge in the body. At first I thought she was on crack, but the truth be told, I feel better this time of night than I have in weeks. I'm going two times a week for acupuncture and soon going for once a week for massage. I meet with the Naturopath in about three weeks that was highly recommended from my ALS doc. I hear she is very good with hair analysis and detoxing the body. If you haven't done the hair test, I make no money off this procedure it is well worth the $125.00 dollars I spent. Dr. Akin is very polite and she truly cares about her patients. It's a one time payment unless of course you decide to do another to see how your body detoxes the heavy metals. Not a bad day all in all, little different in this type of setting but the people were wonderful and it was nice and relaxing. My doctor is gone this week and my DNA test for Kennedy's came back today. The nurse left me a message. She didn't say she had good news or bad news. I'm sure if it was Kennedy's she would have announced this on my voice message. So it appears I will finally join the club. I think I have earned my upper and lower patch for our club! :-) Posted on 07/21/08, 09:07 pm |

Toby, I would do exactly what you are doing if my blood tests come back that I am carrying the ALS mutant gene. I applaud you and your courage to move in the direction of "non'western medicine. You are in the right place. Good for you. Drum roll and rounds of applause, bugles and tamborines.

So, are you saying heavy metals are a contributing factor or not? I'm not clear on that, sorry, guess I"m just being airheaded.
I'm glad the non traditional methods are making you feel good!

Mel...I am convinced that heavy metal toxin play a huge role in sporatic ALS. Metals ratio of minerals are totally what makes muscles work. It has been proven in many psychological studies. Lead for example can cause blood disorders. Mercury causes many illness. Aluminum may be a contributor to Alzheimers. Best test for finding these toxins is found in the hair or saliva.
