41 days sober, and I'm still up here on my pink cloud, and life is wonderful - - particularly in comparison to how my life was.
Gotta share something, though. Went to an AA meeting to express my gratitute. Only spoke a minute or two. Upon leaving the meeting, a nice-looking (appeared to be sane) man approached me, and asked if I had me a nice little pink parachute packed up here on my little pink cloud.
He's an old-timer. Shouldn't he have known how much ANGER we newbies are still sorting out?
I wanted to drag his butt up here to my little pink cloud, and strangle him with the little pink ripcord attached to my little pink parachute.
Started to get angry and resentful. Instead, I'm heeding my own, usual advice of: Eat the fish and spit out the bones. Still, the fact he was having a horrible day was no need to rain on my parade. (It woulda been little pink raindrops from my little pink cloud, anyway.)
Yeah, I know there will be trying times ahead. These past 41 days have not been perfect, but I've been able to handle what was put in front of me BECAUSE I WAS SOBER. If there was something I needed to do, I did it. If I was supposed to be somewhere, I was. On time. If there was something I really didn't want to do, I did it FIRST that day, and got it out of the way instead of stewing around in resentment and figuring out lame excuses to get out of it. BECAUSE I WAS SOBER.
Yes, in comparison to my drinking days, I am in a peaceful, resting state - - today, at this minute, and gathering strength for what tomorrow may hold.
Now I'm going back to fluff up my cloud.
Everyone, have a great, pink day.

LOL i agree not every day is great but as i've heard many times at AA a bad day sober is better than any good day DRUNK! by the way, it feels great to deal with everyday life and do what i need to each day. have a glass of PINK LEMONADE on me, love Patty

All right, that remark was un-called for; but don't let it ruin your day. Personally I've enjoyed reading some of your postings, so I've enjoyed your pink cloud right along with you.

Yes. Eat the fish and spit out the bones is right. There are some old timers that have forgotten what it was like and have lost their humility over the years. Thank God these types of old timers are far and few between. I love the old timers in my home group; they're wonderful people. My dad's an old timer (22 years and counting) and he has always told me another good piece of advice: "You can sit at the same table, but you don't have to chew off of the same piece of meat." Congrats on your recovery and keep coming back.

I've heard someone say that God is their pink cloud and they wouldn't leave home without it! Just remember, it is your recovery no one else's. I can relate to how you feel because I'm at day 85 and, as you stated, some people don't realize how a remark can affect someone new to the program. Someone even reprimanded me slightly for saying I was in the program when I hadn't started working steps yet. so, when in doubt, remember that even the human body needs an asshole to function. Keep up the good work.

Hello, Be proud of every moment you abstain..just remember some people are still sick, that remark TRULY is not a reflection of who you are.I know it may seem a little awkward with what I am about to say so try it yourself and see the results..when an unprovoked response comes your way like that smile..yes smile and politely say "thank you, thank you for your opinion" at first it may be seem sarcastic but it really isn't depending on how it comes out.So say it with respect, grace and dignity and with the intention of personal good will,it tends to diffuse people like that.Keep up the GOOD WORK,were here Take care,Jonezy

I am very newly sober. Like, I just relapsed badly yesterday. Went to 2 AA meetings already today. How do I get that pink cloud?? I am so sad and ashamed of myself. I just don't think things are every going to improve. Very sad.

He obviously has issues he needs to deal with. Sounds like he may be resentful of something you have that he wants. You fluff your pink cloud girl. You are a source of inspiration to me. xxx
