I found a way to keep drinking: Moderation Management. Wow, I though, this is so awesome--I don't actually have to quit drinking forever. Well, that was a week ago. I made it six days (out of the thirty days of not drinking with which the MM program is begun). So, I guess that MM isn't going to be the hail Mary I'd hoped it would be.
Why is Step One so damned difficult for me? Posted on 10/11/08, 09:10 am |

I've got to say that I'm disappointed in people overtly or obliquely bashing mm. As I heard from an aa oldtimer: it's not the people, it's the program. He told me that as an answer to why people fall off of the proverbial wagon.
I know that lots of people have problems with aa, and that's fine: if you don't like it, don't use it. For me, I love aa and have found it very helpful in my life. So, just b/c the person who founded mm has recently made a horrible mistake, doesn't make her program a failure by relation to her. Bill Wilson and Dr. Bob could have been horrible, awful people, blah, blah, blah. It's what they've left behind, in aa, that I have found to be of value for me.

Just stating what happened, I didn't have an opinion. Just the facts.
