Oh, I've been drinking like this for 5 or 6 years now. I was drinking 5 days a week to blackout. I don't do that anymore... I am just so confused and frightened of withdrawal. OK, thank you.

to be honest if u really want to quit it doesnt matter how bad the with drawl will be, cause once you go through that once you would never have to go through it again, however i personally dont think you will experience all that bad of a withdrawl. i drank vodka straight for yrs and atleast a fifth a day and did not withdrawl that bad, if u r worried however there are things the doc can prescribe to help with withdrawl

I drank like you but probably a bit worse. I drank a lot of water when I stopped drinking and that really helped a LOT for me. Also Vitamin C in larger doses like 2,000 mg in an oral supplement can also help. Exercise helps even if you are feeling like you can't. It can really work things through. The better your attitude is the easier it's going to be. I know we all read horror stories and that's not everyone's story. Don't hesitate to talk to your doctor and have him/her access your situation.
You'll be great. You can do this.

Most likely it won't be dangerous, but there's always that chance.I was drinking quite a lot when I stopped, and was hospitalized for a week. It'll probably be unpleasant, racing mind, hard to sleep, moody, etc,.but it'll get better after a few days. That's when I would go back to it.I would get to feeling uncomfortable without that crutch to help me stand up to reality and would go backwards. The first little while without booze isn't easy. There's one sure thing about withdrawal-you only gotta go through it one time if you stay sober.

i would say go to your doc and get checked out, tell him/her honestly what is happening, you most likely will be fine during withdrawal but it is good to go to a doc and get support. Beer, wine, hard booze, it all can be bad to get off of if you drink enough of it.

if you are honest about your beer consumption there should be no problem at all with detoxing from it.I know alot of people that think just drinking beer is ok, but the brain don't know what type of alcohol it is, just that it's alcohol, I had a friend die from drinking beer. Alcohol is alcohol, no matter what kind of drink it is in.

..usually detoxing isn't the real issue, the real issue will be staying stopped. Good luck to you and get educated on alcoholism.

With that amount of alcohol, and it being beer, withdrwawel isn't usually severe at all. Nothing like hard alcohol, that's for sure. Beer is usually between 3 and 5 percent, depending on where you live, but hard alcohol is normally around 40%. i was a beer drinker. Often when I would quit I normally I felt depressed, got headaches, felt a little shaky, sometimes got sick, had bad nerves, but I was able to push myself, usually to work( I thought all this was normal back then) You seem to have grabbed on to the fact that the amount of alcohol has nothing to do with it. That's a good thing. We all have differant tollerences and levels that we get to, but it's what alcohol does to us. You've realised that alcohol sucks the energy right out of you. That's good, because over the years this is what happens until we just can't do anything. It's a progressive disease. All the best. James
