Meditation, Important?

Do you all ever feel this way, ever? And does meditating help you?

I’m frustrated. I clench my teeth and growl at my daughter. I’m trying hard to control my actions because I am so angry. I have a headache and my muscles feel like jelly. Peace is not in my vocabulary. There’s something wrong with me.

I know a temporary fix but that is not an option. Stop and evaluate. I haven’t done my mediation since Saturday. I haven’t taken time for me. This whole week I have done for others and nothing for myself.

For tonight I’m going to finish what I started, put Margie to bed, turn off the tv, computer and some lights and then I’m going to meditate and ask God for help. I hope that will help with these feelings because my jaws are starting to hurt from the clenching. And my heart feels like it’s fluttering in my chest.

" You inspire me! just for sharing...Yes, prayer and meditation is very important in sobriety. Not only is it time for you, Its time spent with your Higher Power. This year I would had celebrated 8 years of clean and sober, little by little, I vanished from meetings, I quit calling people, I quit prayer and meditation...I started doing for someone, and left myself up on a shelf to collect dust...and that led me to my first smoke and my first drink, which has led me to my worst bottom in my life. It will take some time to clean up this mess, but, by the grace of God, I am sober and clean today, one day at a time. Good luck, and Keep yourself off that shelf, and take time out for you. "

" The prayer part of "prayer and meditation" seems to come to me more readily. At its best, for me, meditation creates a space where prayer flows into naturally. At worst, meditation becomes a way to be easily distracted, start "to do" lists, start stressing, fall into self-will run riot.

On the other hand, prayer keeps me from focusing on ME ME ME, encourages me to turn my will over to God, and to try to listen for guidance. "

" I think God provides a tool chest of equipment to help us move forward and have peace & happiness. You have to find out what works for you on your journey.

You sound like you have anxiety big time. I would talk t your doctor about this. I hope you feel better soon. "

" Look at it this way - you recognize there is a problem, and are willing to do something about it. Your heart is still tender, because if it wasn't, then you wouldn't be doing anything about it.

You are taking time out, and getting away from whatever is overwhelming you, and asking God for help. All great choices.

You said you have done things for others, and I believe in giving, you will receive. I believe by helping others, you will be helped.

If you are growling at your daughter, just remember that she loves you and give her a hug instead. She needs her Mom.

Exercise is a great stress/frustration/anxiety reliever as well.

Hope this helps. "
