Stardust - you have realized you have a problem, that's the first step. If you have the ability to quit now please do so or find someone to help you. I am a recovering alcoholic. Went to the hospital in Feb to quit and was sober for almost 5 months & slipped, twice. I was drinking 5 bottles of vodka a week before I quit. I was never sober. I could not quit by myself. Alcohol is poison to me and i know it. when it takes over every waking moment, when you worry where the next drink is coming from, when you make that your first priority then, my dear, you have a grave problem. Please take care of yourself and listen with your heart. You obviously know what a continued trip down that road will lead to. If someone had told me now what would happen to me I would have tried to listen. Oh who am I kidding?? My family is full of alcoholics - I saw the signs! I have a freaking disease that controls me. well, now i'm controlling me. sober for 2 weeks again now and plan on staying that way. the loss of my hub and kids is not worth a good vodka buzz (or the hangover). Vodka's the worst, listen to your instincts and stop now while you have a chance. Good luck! tron

Be careful about vomiting blood, it could be more than one thing but the one thing that comes to mind is a ruptured esophagus. Alcohol is a blood thinner and often a drunk will go to sleep and be bleeding from the esophagus and bleed to death. Alcohol also eats away at the lining of the esophagus which is why alcoholics often throw up blood.
Welcome to you and glad you're here.

Hi Stardust! Welcome, glad you're here! You will find a lot of support and friendship here. I too am bipolar and a recovering alcoholic. I've been right where you are. I go to AA & BP meetings. What a combo! Yikes!
You are not alone in this. I am here to talk if you want to.
Love & hugs

Like dreaming tree I'm a bipolar recovering alcoholic as well. Alcohol really wreaks havoc with our mental disorder. I'm glad you're not mixing it with your meds (like I did) but unmedicated bps drinking massive amounts of alcohol is asking for disaster. As the others have said, you've done a lot to recognize you have a problem. You're certainly not the only one. Welcome to the board.

Hi, I can really relate to you. I also love white wine, vodka drinks and especially energy drinks that already has the vodka in it. I too have just recently started to admit that I have a problem. Nowadays I start earlier & earlier- I am a stay at home mom of 1. I don't let myself get drunk or allow my daughter to see me drink, she is 3, but I start with a couple of beers and then once my husband is home I can switch to wine or mixed drinks because I know he is there. Good luck & I hope to hear how you are dealing with your issues. I could also use any advice or just some friendly chit chat.

It is great that you are looking for help. I was to damn hard headed and drank myself into a world of hurt. The self medicating and bp meds do not mix. You can stop drinking. When you do, it makes it easier to deal with BP
